Jacob Peterson, of Melbourne, and 62 of his Adecco Group colleagues returned to their respective homes across the globe today after completing last week’s New York Marathon.
The worldwide recruiter entered the team as part of its Win4Youth initiative, designed to integrate disadvantaged youths into the workplace.
For every gruelling 5km Jacob Peterson and his global colleagues ran in the New York Marathon last Sunday, the Adecco Group donated $5 to youth associated charities across the globe.
“Adecco believes in better work, better life and initiatives like Win4Youth are just one way we can make this a reality for the communities in which we work,” said Adecco CEO, Jeff Doyle.
“The New York Marathon was a great opportunity to challenge our colleagues, build team spirit, and join together as global organisation to assist young people in disadvantaged environments.”
Peterson, Adecco Australia’s representative in the global team, successfully completed the entire 42kms in 3:40hrs.
“The atmosphere on Sunday was amazing and it definitely got me through the last eight kilometres where I was really struggling,” Peterson said upon his return to Melbourne.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone tonight.”
While Peterson and the team completed the marathon in New York, his colleagues back in Australia participated in a support run in Melbourne. Doyle was no exception, contributing another 10km to the organisation’s tally.
“I’m grateful for all the support and this great opportunity. It really has been a once in a life time experience!” Jacob said.
Adecco Australia’s tally is now at 2570kms, with the company’s global tally due for release in the next week.
“The Group has shown great enthusiasm, across all our brands and divisions and from all levels of the organisation,” Doyle said.
